On Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Destiny Faith Ministries, the congregation was reminded that storms are a part of life — but even in the middle of the storm, Jesus is still in the boat.
Ministering from Mark 4:35–41, Alice Wafula shared a powerful message titled “Overcoming Storms.” The sermon encouraged believers to remain steadfast in faith even when life becomes uncertain, painful, or overwhelming.
Storms Come Even When We Obey God
One of the key lessons from the message was that the disciples encountered the storm while obeying Jesus. Christ had instructed them to cross over to the other side, yet along the journey they faced fierce winds and dangerous waves.
Many times, we assume that obedience to God means a life free from challenges. However, the message reminded the church that difficulties can still arise even when we are walking in God’s will. Financial struggles, sickness, family battles, emotional burdens, and unexpected situations may come, but they do not mean God has abandoned us.
Jesus Is Still in the Boat
As the storm intensified, the disciples panicked while Jesus slept peacefully in the boat. Their fear caused them to question whether He cared about what they were going through.
Yet when Jesus arose, He spoke directly to the storm:
“Peace, be still.”
Immediately, the winds ceased and there was calm.
The church was encouraged to remember that the presence of Jesus changes everything. The storm may be real, but God remains greater than every storm we face. His presence gives peace in moments of uncertainty and strength in seasons of testing.
Faith Over Fear
Another important theme from the sermon was the battle between fear and faith. Jesus asked His disciples:
“Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”
Fear often causes us to focus more on the waves around us than on the God who is with us. Faith, however, reminds us that no situation is beyond God’s power.
Believers were encouraged to hold firmly onto God’s promises, pray persistently, and trust Him even when the outcome is not yet visible.
Speaking Life Through God’s Word
The message also highlighted the authority found in God’s Word. Just as Jesus spoke to the wind and the sea obeyed Him, believers are called to speak God’s promises over their situations.
Storms may come, but they do not have the final word. God remains sovereign, faithful, and present through every season.
A Church Standing Together in Faith
The service also became a moment of thanksgiving as the church reflected on God’s faithfulness through recent challenges faced by members of the congregation. Testimonies of healing, recovery, encouragement, and unity reminded everyone that God continues to sustain His people.
As a church family, Destiny Faith Ministries continues to stand together in prayer, faith, and love — trusting that every storm will ultimately reveal the goodness and power of God.
Final Encouragement
No matter what storm you may be facing today, remember:
- God has not forgotten you.
- Jesus is still with you.
- Your storm is not greater than God’s power.
- Peace is possible even in difficult seasons.
With Christ in the boat, we can overcome every storm.
